We can all agree that sometimes work may get a little boring, and we may begin to find it difficult to motivate ourselves. That being said, we are here to provide you with a few tips that will help you to be your most productive at work.
To start things off, consider creating a smaller to-do list. Being productive isn’t about how many tasks you can get done, it’s about how efficiently you can perform each task. Try to take on most of your challenging tasks first, like early in the morning, and save your easier tasks for the afternoon. Make sure you take breaks, such as going on a walk to grab something to eat. Doing this will give your brain time to relax and find creative solutions that don’t come to you when you are working on the problem. Taking a break allows you come back recharged and ready to work again.
Another key factor in productivity and motivation at work is colour, as it has been proven to affect your productivity levels at work. Angela Wright says, “blue stimulates the mind, yellow inspires creativity, red affects your body and green creates a calming balance.”
Bright and muted colors have different human responses. While bright colors provoke energy and alertness, muted colors result in a sense of relaxation. If you can’t change the colour of the walls in your office, accessorize with paintings, carpets and lighting that best suit the office environment and relate to your company branding.
If possible, incorporate natural light and plants into your office as they have continuously been proven to increase productivity, energy and creativity.
Don’t let your workspace hinder your ability to work to your full potential. Take the time to make some minor adjustments in order to motivate yourself and those around you.
