It’s that time of the year again: the Christmas ornaments are up, your home is decorated for winter and now it’s time to prepare for a New Year’s party! Planning a spectacular event in your own home doesn’t have to be stressful affair but being prepared and enthusiastic about it is essential for a successful party for everyone, including yourself, to enjoy. If you’re stuck for ideas, then check out these foolproof tips to help you along the way.
Decor
The right kind of decor for your party not only sets the scene for the night but it’s also a chance for your personality to shine through. Choose to have a New Year themed party, such as a masked ball or Hollywood themed bash, or be inspired from other countries’ New Year celebrations. Alternatively, you might opt for a more sophisticated angle by choosing a color scheme, just ensure that’s it’s not overbearing so try and go for one main color, for example, silver, and use snow white, gold or black to complement the contrasting decorations.
Set the scene
Using candles can really create a festive atmosphere but getting the the lighting right can make or break an ambiance. There are various ways to arrange candles for setting the right mood for your New Year’s party: from large candles appropriately placed in a room to tea lights or floating candles as a centrepiece on a table. To add more to the tone, consider using colored candles to accompany your decor and scented candles to increase the mood.
Eat, drink…
It may sound obvious but ensure you have enough food and drink to last through the celebrations as the last thing you want is to run out before the night ends! Provide your guests with a varied selection of snacks and festive appetizers, and try and have an irresistible food display that could include a chocolate fondue fountain, for example. Similarly, offer your party guests a variety of drinks which should include anything from cocktails, champagne and non-alcoholic beverages too. Lay all your delectables on a decorative table to woo your guests.
…and be merry
All that’s left is to make sure you’ve chosen the music entertainment for the night and have yourself a party extravaganza on one of the biggest nights of the year.
