Your home is a sacred space for family gatherings, relaxation and entertaining guests, as such it can be both lively and harmonious. Feng Shui is related to personal wealth and health, as well as the peace and happiness of the whole family. Here are some tips on how to make your home a place that benefits all who enter.
Traditional Feng Shui Rules For Inside Your Home:
- Furniture should be positioned so as not to restrict free passage through the room, as this is a reflection of the flowing of energy.
- Make repairs promptly. Any house features such as stairs, doors or windows that are broken or not working restrict the flow of positive energy. Repairs should be made as quickly as possible to allow the energy to flow freely again.
- Keep your place clean and de-cluttered. This is a must, to avoid stagnant, negative energy.
- Display plants, fruits and flowers to promote positive energy, although ones with thorns should be avoided. Displays of oranges and lemons throughout the home are thought to bring good luck.
- Mirrors are believed to reflect positive energy, therefore doubling its potency. They also work by preventing the flow of negative energy around the home. However, it is not recommended to place a mirror facing a front door, as it reflects good energy back out the house.
- Bring in living things, such as plants and pets. Avoid keeping dying or dry plants or animals (fur, insects, deer antlers).
Feng Shui Tips for the bedroom
- Try to get plenty of fresh air and natural light for creating beneficial energy, especially in your bedroom.
- Keep work and rest areas separate. Any work or home office space should be kept very distinct from living or sleeping areas. If these are mixed then relaxation will be impossible, and work material kept in the bedroom will prevent getting a good night’s rest.
- Make sure that you’re not sleeping on the same wall that shares a bathroom, kitchen, fireplace or heavy electronics. It can cause health issues.
- The furniture in the master bedroom should be proportional to the size of the room, and the room should be free of excess clutter. The master bedroom should have the right balance of light during the day and enough window treatments to create a peaceful sleep environment at night.
- Televisions can reflect objects just like a mirror, and should not be placed directly across from a couple’s bed as it can cause couples to fight and argue over petty things. In addition, a television emits electromagnetic energy that is disturbing to our energy. The closer and bigger the television, the worse it is. This can cause restlessness and insomnia. Computers also have the same affect on our energy fields and are best left out of the bedroom.
- Beams that are located over the bed and run vertical can cause couples that are sleeping together to split. The lower the ceiling and the closer the beams, the more serious they are. A canopy bed or covering the beam with fabric can offset this.
- Water features should not be in the master bedroom as it is disruptive to your energy. Water is primarily used to enhance wealth in a home, but when improperly placed it will ignite undesirable results. Aquariums, wall fountains or desk fountains in the bedroom are not beneficial and should be avoided.
